    Enjoying the Blog…
Looking for the right strain of S.agalactiae
to display a good positive CAMP result for my students.
It would seem all the strains I have tried to date do not care to cooperate.
I understand the alternate methods to identification, although this is an educational situation.
    Thank You

      Hello Lorri,

According to the Clinical Microbiology Procedures Handbook, you should use S. agalactiae ATCC 12386 for the CAMP test. We have this strain available in a KWIK-STIK format (http://microbiologics.com/0439P) as well as S. aureus ATCC 25923 which produces beta-lysin (http://microbiologics.com/0360P).

Also, be sure to use fresh blood agar and culture organisms that are less than 24 hours old.

Thanks for the question. We will be sure to address this topic in more detail in a future post.

      Good luck!
