It’s 2020 and what a year it has been! It also marks the five-year anniversary of our annual Halloween-themed agar art contest known as #CreepyCultures. We’re looking forward to this year’s competition even more than previous years, in hopes that it might offer a much-needed distraction and an outlet for some light-hearted artistic expression for our friends and fellow microbiologists who have been quietly and diligently acting as heroes in creating a safer, healthier world.
We can’t wait to see what your clever, quirky and creative minds will conjure this year! Submit your #CreepyCulture creations by Wednesday, October 28, 2020 for ultimate bragging rights amongst your lab crew as well as a chance to win prizes including some highly coveted Microbiologics swag.
How the contest works:
Create Halloween-themed agar art using your favorite microorganisms and agar. Share an image of your art with us by Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Winning plates will be chosen by Microbiologics employees.
Tip: For extra creepy cultures, use our UV-BioTAG™ strains (GFP tagged microorganisms) and make your design glow like the plate shown above, designed by our Research and Development Scientist, Dr. Karla Fjeld.
How to submit your agar art:
It’s simple! Use the form below to upload an image of your #CreepyCulture agar art.
We will announce the winners and share all submissions Friday, October 30, 2020 on the Microbiologics Blog.
