Creepy Cultures 2021

Publish Date: October 19, 2021

With more than 50 years in the industry, the thing we have grown to love most about microbiology is the people. Microbiologists combine impeccable precision and insatiable curiosity. Though their work often calls for strict methodologies, microbiologists draw inspiration from the microscopic world that surrounds them. Every October, we celebrate that spirit of scientific creativity with an agar art contest called #CreepyCultures.

Now that spooky season is here, it’s time to bust out the agar and inoculating loops, and get to work creating your creepiest masterpiece. Each year our customers and industry partners delight us with their agar art creations, and we know this year will be no different!

How the contest works

Create Halloween-themed agar art using your favorite microorganisms and agar. Send us a picture of your agar art by Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, for a chance to win fun prizes. Winning plates will be chosen by Microbiologics employees.

Tip:

For extra Halloween flare, use microorganisms with green fluorescent protein markers, like our UV-BioTAGTM control strains, to make your plate glow under UV light.
